Inspired by people

Light, colour, shadow, reflection, expression, communication, posture, the minutiae of daily life and living. Waiting for a bus, chatting in the street, making bread, buying clothes, performing, sitting with friends, drinking tea......looking.
All around the world we are all united in one purpose........living.
We are surrounded by life force.

I observe from life, gathering information in sketchbooks and taking photographs. I am continually studying my view and breaking it into  shapes and layers of colour.
I trained in surface design textiles and this training shows in my love of flat colour. While embracing this process, I also allow accidents to happen.
If  my brush is wet and causes a drip of paint , I see how it enhances the look of the image, not destroys it.
We need not strive for perfection as imperfection can be more beautiful.
Now happily based at Saltburn Artists projects,no longer the garret artist, my study of people continues. Burlesque is one of my new themes along with exploring the connection between the mind, body and soul.

Follow my blogs and learn about my textiles workshops, the world of the Goth 'worry' doll by Clare H, landscape art cards and endless other possibilities...
